세계적인 배구 스타이자 한국 배구의 상징인 김연경 선수의 은퇴를 기념하기 위해 KYK INVITATIONAL2025를 개최했습니다.
전 세계 배구 스타들을 초청하여 드림 경기를 펼치고 김연경 선수의 선수 생활을 팬들과 함께 돌아보는 자리였습니다.
INVITATIONAL 2회 차를 맞아 개발되는 새로운 브랜드 아이덴티티를 통해 전 세계 배구팬들에게 김연경 선수의 메시지를 보다
효과적으로 전달하며 깊이 있는 공감대를 쌓고자 했습니다.
To celebrate the retirement of world-renowned volleyball star and Korean sports icon Kim Yeon-koung,
the KYK INVITATIONAL 2025 was held.
This special event brought together volleyball stars from around the world for a dream match, offering fans a chance to
celebrate and reflect on Kim Yeon-koung’s illustrious career.
As the KYK INVITATIONAL enters its second edition, a new brand identity has been developed to more effectively
convey Kim Yeon-koung’s message to a global audience of volleyball fans, fostering a deeper sense of
connection and shared meaning.
DESIGN STRATEGY
유수의 해외 구단에서 활동하며 한국 배구의 위상을 높이는데 기여한 김연경 선수의 INVITATIONAL 아이덴티티를 통해 스포츠 정신을
공유하고자 했습니다. 팀워크와 화합을 기반으로 겨루는 배구의 특성을 핵심 모티프로 시각화하여 대한민국 배구의 결속력을
상징화하는 동시에 김연경 선수의 리더십을 기념하고자 했습니다.
또한 디자인 표현 방법에 있어, 속도감 있게 진행되는 다이나믹한 배구 경기의 흐름과 인터랙티브한 관객 호응을 디자인 무드로 표현함으로써
INVITATIONAL이 경기를 넘어 축제로 확장되는 순간을 나타내는 것을 목표로 하였습니다.
Through the identity of the INVITATIONAL honoring Kim Yeon-koung—an athlete who elevated the status of Korean
volleyball while playing for prestigious international clubs—we aimed to share the spirit of sportsmanship.
By visualizing the essence of volleyball, a sport built on teamwork and unity, we sought to symbolize the solidarity of
Korean volleyball and celebrate Kim Yeon-koung’s leadership.
In terms of design expression, our goal was to capture the fast-paced, dynamic flow of the game and the interactive
energy of the crowd, expressing these elements as a visual mood. This approach aimed to portray the INVITATIONAL
not merely as a match, but as a moment of transformation into a celebratory festival.
BRAND IDENTITY
배구는 6명이 코트 위에서 하나가 되어 드라마 같은 승리의 순간을 만들어낸다는 점에 착안하여 화합과 역동성의 시각화에 집중
하였습니다. 배구 선수를 상징하는 여섯 개의 원이 화합하여 하나가 된 형태를 메인 심볼로 하고, 심볼 내부에 배구의 역동적인 무브먼트를
상징화하는 밴드 형태를 결합했습니다. 메인 심볼은 세계 각국의 국기와 같이 정체성 및 소속감을 나타내는데 활용되며, 밴드 형태의
엘리먼트는 패턴으로 활용되어 축제로서의 무드를 확장성 있게 표현합니다.
Inspired by the idea that six players come together on the court to create dramatic moments of victory,
the design focused on visualizing unity and dynamism.
The main symbol consists of six circles representing volleyball players, unified into a single form that embodies harmony.
Within the symbol, a band element symbolizes the dynamic movements of volleyball, adding a sense of
motion and energy. This primary symbol functions as a mark of identity and belonging—much like a national flag—
while the band-shaped element extends into a pattern system that enhances the festive atmosphere and expressive versatility of the INVITATIONAL.
PROJECT OUTCOME
KYK INVITATIONAL은 세계적인 배구 선수들의 드림 경기뿐만 아니라 관객이 참여하는 인터랙티브한 이벤트를 통해 새로운 개념의
배구 축제로 자리매김하고 있습니다. 배구 역사에 기록될 뛰어난 선수에서 유소년 선수들을 지원하는 재단 이사장이자 지도자로서 전환점을
맞이한 김연경 선수의 여정은 KYK Foundation, INVITATIONAL과 함께 앞으로도 계속될 것입니다.
KYK INVITATIONAL is evolving into a new kind of volleyball festival—not only showcasing dream matches featuring
world-class players, but also engaging audiences through interactive events.
Marking a turning point from a legendary player etched into volleyball history to a foundation chairperson and mentor
supporting the next generation, Kim Yeon-koung’s journey continues through the KYK Foundation and the INVITATIONAL for years to come.
